Difficulty: 6/10
Time Expected to Complete: 6+ Hours

Description
Many Graphic Artists design website mascots or characters out of vector images. Illustrator is a great tool to do this and is used often to create these little guys. In this assignment the students will experience making a character out of vectors, however the assignment differs from standard methods. This assignment will aid the student to create unity between both graphic and type, which will require creativity and encourage thought in typography selection and design. This also may be a good segway into the typography class later on in the visual technology program.

  2. Use a font manager or multiple instances of the alphabet, and experiment with different typefaces applied to each in order to determine the most effective font to be used.

So, very fun assignment. I have to say, though, that I felt a little like the idea of the assignment shifted as the time period to work on it progressed. Looking at what was turned in, it looks almost like it was assigned, twice, to two different groups. Makes it kind of difficult to know if I was along the right path.
