Linking vs. Embedding Images – http://vimeo.com/8547852

  1. What is the difference from linking and image and embedding an image? Embedding your file includes it in the file you’re working with. Linking leaves it linked to the file where you got the image. When you give your file to someone else, if it is embedded, they will have access to it in your file.
  2. How can you tell the difference between a linked image and an embedded image? Window>Links panel.  Those files that are linked show a linked icon next to them.
  3. Should a file be linked or embedded when sending the file to someone? Embedded.

Creating a Clipping Mask between Two Layers – http://vimeo.com/8547926

  1. Why do clipping masks have to exist on the same layer? They have to be for the “clipping” to occur.
  2. Upload a .JPG file showing a clipping mask that chops off the leg hanging off the illustration.
