Linking vs. Embedding Images

  1. What is the difference from linking and image and embedding an image?  clicking a linked image will send you to a place where the file is. embedding it will place the image directly there.
  2. How can you tell the difference between a linked image and an embedded image?  go to the links panel, and if an icon shows up aside the file, that means that it has been embedded.
  3. Should a file be linked or embedded when sending the file to someone? it should be embedded, so then you dont have to send the pictures over separately.

Using a Clipping Mask to Make a Cutout

1.Upload a .JPG file of an embedded image in a clipping mask

Creating a Clipping Mask between Two Layers

  1. Why do clipping masks have to exist on the same layer? if they are not, the image will not clip.
  2. Upload a .JPG file showing a clipping mask that chops off the leg hanging off the illustration.
